One of the key aspects of Windward WebStorePOS™ is its ability to display inventory items in a dynamically generated format. This means that the content of inventory web pages is based on the inventory information that has been uploaded to the WebStorePOS™ system from the Windward System Five records. For example, if a website visitor views a list of inventory items, the visitor is seeing the information that was most recently uploaded from System Five. The next time a visitor goes to the same page it may contain different items or items with changed information – if that information changed in System Five and has been uploaded to the website.
By using dynamically generated web pages your website will be in sync with your System Five records, reducing errors and improving accuracy. In addition, because website pages are dynamically generated, there is little need for you to make manual changes on your website for inventory items.
To illustrate how dynamically generated web pages work lets look at a simplified example:
On May 25th at 1:00 pm a visitor to a website selected jackets and was shown the following web page inventory listings:
On May 25th at 1:10 pm the rain coat vendor contacts the retailer and advises them that this rain coat is in fact water resistant and not waterproof – as well the hood is not detachable. A clerk makes the change to the inventory item in System Five and then uploads the change to WebStorePOS™. Although it could be left for the automatic upload that will take place later in the day, it was determined that the change was significant and had to be made immediately.
On May 25th at 1:30 pm the next visitor to the jackets page sees:
