Windward Software Updates

For those who may need help, please call Windward Technical support for direction and help for the installation. Support is available from 6:30 am until 5:00 pm Pacific Time, Monday to Friday, except for holidays.

Windows Users - Connect to the internet and from within Windward System Five, click on Utilities, choose FTP Update and follow the prompts. This is the fastest and easiest way to update your software. If your computer is not connected to the internet, then you can download the updates from a different computer that is, using one of the following ftp sites:

Important Updating Information

•Certain upgrades requires a data conversion which may take up to an hour or more depending on the size of your data and the speed of your computer, network and file server.

•All users must be logged off during the data conversion.

•You must be logged on to your computer as an administrator or owner for Windows NT/2000/XP. Those running terminal server should log everyone off, reboot the server then run the installation program.

•Please backup the program and all data before updating.

•Ensure you have sufficient hard drive space on your file server before running the data conversion.




Data conversions
If you are updating from a previous version of System Five or Speedypos you may have to do a data conversion. When you run the program the first time this will be checked for you. The data conversion may take up to an hour or more depending on the amount of data you have in your system. Other users can not be running this while the conversion is in process.If the data conversion fails, you can either:

1.Select the option to revert the data to the previous version and re-install / restore the previous version.

2.Call Windward technical support who may be able to manually upgrade a file and let the conversion continue where it errored.


NOTE: DOS Users - please contact support for help with installing updates. Also considering upgrading to our Windows version for FREE (As part of the annual update fees, Pervasive.SQL Required)

NOTE: If you have an FTP program such as Cute FTP or WS-FTP, then you may find that faster and easier than using your browser to download the files. This is because these programs allow you to tag all the files you need, start the download and then walk away instead of having to click on each file you need, one at a time.
