The story behind the name:
It was on a cold, snowy day in 1988 with minus 35 degree temperatures when Dennis thought there had to be a better way. He realized that he could support his customers anywhere in the world by phone, fax and modem. Dennis and Jean had taken a trip to Barbados a few years before and the idea of sitting on a beach was appealing.
As Barbados Software did not have a great ring to it, Dennis & Jean looked through an encyclopedia (no Internet back then!) for ideas. While Barbados was outside the actual chain of Windward Islands, it was close enough and the name was chosen.
